Meet the Class
We took park in a hoopstars festival. We learnt how to keep the hoop moving and to do some tricks. We had a fantastic time.
We have been measuring and estimating using water. We had to predict how much each item held, then put them in order.
In literacy we have been learning about following and writing instructions. We followed the instructions to decorate these biscuits. Guess what we did next?
We went to Saint Aidan's to learn more about the Easter story. We hunted for eggs and listened to the story. We took part in a service at the end of the morning.
We have been working with Fliss and her team from St Aidan's Church. We talked about what we were thankful for and how we could say thank you and sorry.
We had a brilliant day on Thursday 3rd March; we all dressed up as characters from books.
We had a great day looking at and learning about books, and guessing which characters our class friends were dressed up as.
We have written our own counting books. We planned and drafted the book, then we re-wrote the book and illustrated it.
We launched our books by reading them to the Reception children.
We have been doing lots of work in Maths. We have been learning how to make more accurate estimations. We have also been investigating 3D shapes; we made models and named the shapes and their properties.
PE lessons this term have seen us using the apparatus in gymnastics. Look how brave we are, and what fantastic shapes we can make!
We had an exciting trip out of school on Friday 13th November 2015; we visited the Laing Art Gallery to investigate paintings. This was followed by lunch and a visit to the Theatre Royal to see the Elves and the Shoemaker. Check out the gallery for more pictures from our day!
This past week has seen us learning all about Oceania and in particular, Australia.
We made 'passports' so we would be allowed into the country to explore; we also sent postcards home! We have also been learning all about the explorer, Captain Cook.
